Robert Wood
« on: Monday 18 February 19 20:54 GMT (UK) »
Please can anyone help me find out a bit more about this man. This is what I have at the moment:

1841  Robert Wood b1826 Kent.Living in Faversham.piece472 book19 folio33.

1851  In Maidstone Prison.Robert Wood b1824 Canterbury,unmarried,sweep. piece1617 folio653 p19.

1861 Robert Wood b1826 Canterbury
         Harriet b1817 Southampton.

         In Dover piece545 folio32 p7

1871  Robert b1823 Faversham
          Harriet b1819 Southampton

          In Bromley piece573 folio48 p37.

Thats about all i can find on them.Im keen to find out who his wife was,and what became of them.

There is a possible marriage in West Ashford O/N/D 1871 for a Robert Wood and Harriet Briggs. Its away from their last residence in Bromley, but they seem to move round a bit.I cant see a Harriet Briggs born c1818 Southampton on the census, but there is a marriage for a Charles Briggs/Harriet Smith in Thanet O/N/D 1848.Ancestry suggests hes the on living in West Asford on 1841 born c1826.

There is a death for a Robert Wood in Epsom in 1876 born 1822.Also a Harriet Wood same place 1900 born c1815.Again,a long way from Ashford. Also,i cant see anything on 1881-1901 on census.

If anyone can improve on this,or has any thoughts,id be very grateful.

Thanks.

An 1871 marriage would be a bit late?  You have him listed with Harriet in 1861 and unmarried in 1851 so assuming they were married by 1861....I would look for a marriage between 1851-1861.

Milliepede I have had quite a lot of people who didn't get married until after they had been together a long time.

The 1871 marriage is the wrong one.  There is an 1881 entry for a Robert & Harriet Wood with sister Sarah Briggs living with them

Living in Hothfield which was West Ashford RD

James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.
