Census relationship
« on: Wednesday 20 February 19 15:09 GMT (UK) »
hi could anyone tell me what this relationship is written in the 1851 census - a child of 9 months. ;The child has a different surname to the rest of the family.

Have you enlarged the image as it's very fuzzy?

Can you post the image smaller please?

It looks as though it's Dau Dau i.e. Granddaughter?

Looking at the rest of the writing it is clearly Dau Dau - I can see that now. I did not know that meant Granddaughter - thank you for pointing that out. It makes complete sense as well.

Many thanks both

Glad to have helped...

Not the 'norm' to describe a g/dau but it's the interesting & unique things we find which makes this hobby so enjoyable as we learn from such things.

May answer the question?

I would have liked a better image than the fuzzy original but C3 seems happy.

I suppose granddaughter would be less helpful, whereas dau dau narrows it down to the daughter of a female child.
