Drake baptisms Newland late 1600s
« on: Wednesday 20 February 19 15:13 GMT (UK) »
Daniel Drake married Margaret Annetts 15 April 1683 in Abenhall. According to the Forest of Dean site they had a son Thomas baptised in Newland in 1690 and a son Keapford buried 12 September 1695, also in Newland.

I am looking for the baptisms of any other children to this couple, in particular a son named Daniel. Nothing else coming up on the Forest of Dean site.

Can anyone find anything?

Daniel DRAKE married aged 23 - Margaret ANNETTS - 30 - by Licence in 1683 (Transcribed on the Forest of Dean Licence records) - to marry at Newland, Abenhall or Ruardeane....

His Will on Ancestry (Daniel living at the Speech House  - just mentions his Wife Margaret and children .....  and the Inventory has a witness named: Nicholas ANNOTS...

Assume you have the Transcript 1 June 1695, when Elizabeth TURNER (Widow)  - residence, Speech House, married Nicholas ANNETTS at Gloucester St Nicholas

? are you trying to connect this up with the marriage by Licence at Flaxley, 14 June 1708 (by Licence) of Daniel DRAKE aged abt 25 (c1683) - residence, Flaxley, to Mary NASH a Spinster.

Had a look at the Annetts (or variations of) Will - to see if any DRAKE's listed without success  and no Will/or marriage  of Margaret DRAKE

I found the marriage of Daniel Drake/ Margaret Annetts on the Forest of Dean site and yes, I am looking for the parents of the Daniel Drake who married Mary Nash in Flaxley.

I don't subscribe to Anc so hadn't come across the Will. Just typical not to mention the children by name.

The name Daniel is the only reason I was looking for other baptisms to Daniel and Margaret as the name Daniel is carried through successive generations.

I've not had much luck with Mary Nash either although it is possible that she may be the illegitimate daughter of Catherine Nash and was born in Longdon 1685.

Thanks for looking for me.

Been having a look at the children of Daniel & Mary DRAKE on the Forest of Dean website looking for family names.

If you don't already do so, it's useful to use the Soundex e.g.

At Littledean 2 December 1708

Elizabeth DRACKE - parents: Danell & Mary

The names of Daniel and Mary's children don't really help at all.

Elizabeth 1708 Littledean
Daniel 1710 Littledean
Mary 1716 Littledean
Leah 1719 Flaxley
Rachel 1724 Flaxley

On the entry for their marriage Daniel is down as being from the parish of Flaxley and Mary from Huntley. They are both buried in Flaxley, Daniel in 1728 with a yob of c1683 and Mary in 1761 with a birth year of c1684

I do use the Soundex facility, just as I always look +/- 5 years of any given birth year.
