George Philp and Margaret Fidler
« on: Friday 22 February 19 19:29 GMT (UK) »
Elizabeth Philip/Philp (1783-1863) parents were George Philp and Margaret Fidler, the couple married 1774 in Cruden.  There are at least 12 other children born in Cruden with the surname Philp and fathers name George.  All of these can't be from this family (if any) because a few are born in same year but months apart.  Does any one have them in their family tree please?  I did a search on SP for deaths with mothers name Fidler and it only brought up Elizabeth but perhaps there are more children.  I do not have any birth or death dates for either George nor Margaret.  Thanks

The SP records at Cruden only note George as the father, and some names were repeated Alexander 2, Elizabeth 2, Margaret 3 & Isabel 2 in the same year. (I doubt the early ones all died)?

There were 4 George Philip marriages at Cruden and others elsewhere in the County.

I tried to match births with possible deaths in the hope of a death certificate showing mothers name but no success apart from Elizabeth.

It would seem that there are 2 Philp families, one from Whinnyfold and the other from Bullers Buchan.   It is the Bullers Buchan family that I am interested in if anyone can help, thanks.

I can't help with this specifically but I did have two families with the parents called John and Ann, baptising children in the same village at the same time.  The only way of sorting them out was to use other sources like wills and manorial records to work out who was who!
By the way, there's a Phelp in my extended family, Cheshire, occasionally spelt Philp, or transcribed as Phillip or other spellings, which makes it difficult to search for!
