David Jones & Jane's Marriage
« on: Saturday 23 February 19 15:50 GMT (UK) »
Hit yet another brick wall with trying to find the families of David Jones born 1842 Penmachno & Jane (possibly Jones) born 1844 Blaenau Ffestiniog.
On the 1871 Census they are living at Fotty Penmachno & 1881 Census No3 Bryn Penmachno. On the 1891 Census Jane is a widow, so David must have died between 1881 & 1891 but I can't find when?
Their first child was John born 1863 Penmachno.
Mary Jane 1865 Penmachno
Edward David 1866 Blaenau Ffestiniog
Richard Lewis 1868 Penmachno
Alice 1875 Penmachno
Elisabeth A 1876 Penmachno
David 1880 Penmachno
I have searched for marriages in both Penmachno & Blaenau Ffestiniog between 1860 & 1863 but again no luck. I have had a look on GRO for mother's maiden name for the children & 2 show Jones, registered in Llanrwst.
I would be very grateful for help or suggestions of what to do next.

Have you looked on the GRO index to narrow it down?  I appreciate there must be a lot of people called David Jones but ages being given should help.  You might have to take a chance on a certificate for the last known area and hope for the best  :-\

Actually there aren't many that are in the right district about the right age even just looking on Free BMD.

Have you tried any deaths yet?

This one looks closest if he was born 1842.

Jun 1882 Llanrwst  11b 250

David Jones age 42

Thanks for your replies  ;D Yes millipede I did look on GRO but there was dozens of David Jones, but the one you mention that died 1882 looks promising.
That information on the baptism in 1843 looks good too Trish, I shall follow up on that family. I did see that marriage in Llanfawr Merionethshire on the Family Search website but when I click on 'To View' to take you to partner site which is FindMyPast it came up as sorry error. I tried searching on FindMyPast with the same info but nothing came up, which is very frustrating  >:(
Thanks again to you both for your help, at least I have some leads to work on now.

Although the date is a week or two later, I wonder if the first accident in this report is relevant?   A small item in a welsh language paper notes he left a widow and 7 children

Thank you so much Glyn, what a find, would I be able to view the site you found the details on as I have other members of this family who could be buried at St Tuddud Churchyard? Could you tell me how far Cwm Penmachno is from Penmachno?
That also looks promising MabelB thank you. How sad for the family & all those children, I will follow it up.
