Many many thanks to you all for all this marvelous information and your assistance.

The diary was transcribed and printed in The Cleveland Standard dated 1939 which I found a rather yellowed creased copy folded up inside a family bible. I have been researching its content for some years and have nearly traced information for each of entries although an handful will probably still defeat me because of their vagueness.

Hello,
Thank you for Coulthard info Richard & Martha Coulthard were my grandparents, came to Canada in 1924-25 Drumheller Alberta Coal Mines were booming at that time. My father Robert Coulthard joined the Canadian Army and while on leave at Duckerings in Boosbeck met my mother, thus she was a Canadian War Bride and Mom & I sailed for Canada in 1946 from Southampton on the Queen Mary.
I currently live in Canada with my family.
The diary sounds interesting of Mr Rowbottom's
Looking for any info on my Grandfather Richard's sister Mary Edith Coulthard born abt.1875 in Leasingthorne.

Hi Pauline - and welcome to RootsChat :) :)

1891 census in Monk Wearmouth, Sunderland Durham...
Jane A Coulthard (widow) 40
Mary E    16
Richard    12
Benjamin   9
Lydia        2
Dorothy Little 39 married, visitor
Mary Little  2, visitor

1901 Benjamin is married to Miriam Sanderson and they are with his wife's family in Shildon, Auckland, Durham.  Mary E Coulthard is listed as a visitor - she was born in Leasingthorne.

1910 Mary E Coulthard married Luke Hunter in Darlington, Durham. (see FreeBMD)

1911 - I don't think I am allowed to provide look up info for this census, but you can look for Mary Edith and Luke Hunter in Sunderland, Durham.
