This might help

"Spelthorne is a local government district and borough in Surrey, England. It contains the towns and villages of Ashford, Laleham, Shepperton, Staines-upon-Thames, Stanwell and Sunbury-on-Thames. It is the northernmost local government district in Surrey."

It appears to be a borough council rather than a town.

Groom ,

Thank you for that, I had read that , but did not understand which town or city My ancestor came from,

I will click backwards and forwards on the poll book , maybe an easier address than " The Lodge "

will give Me a clue where her home was at that time.

I'd guess that she lived in Teddington.

It says Polling District TEDDINGTON-LOWER WARD which would be the part of Teddington nearest the Thames, I live at the other end in Upper Teddington. What confuses me is the reference to Spelthorne which in my lifetime covers the area indicated by Groom and does NOT include Teddington!
Not too helpful but it might just help...

I lived in or around the Spelthorne for many years.

Spelthorne BC  was only created in 1965.

Spelthorne as a parliamentary seat goes back to 1918 and all of the towns / villages would have been in the County of Middlesex.

The parliamentary boundaries in 1918-1945 where  the Urban Districts of Feltham, Hampton, Hampton Wick, Staines, Sunbury-on-Thames, and Teddington, and the Rural District of Staines.

As I cannot find any reference to Teddington Lower Ward, can you let me have a link to the source and I'll see what I can work out.

Just to confirm, Spelthorne parliamentary constituency lost Teddington in 1945
