Emigration
« on: Wednesday 06 March 19 10:32 GMT (UK) »
I have a Swiss family in Chorlton on Medlock, Manchester, at time of 1891 census, but I can't find them in the UK at 1901, so I assume they returned to Switzerland before then.

However, as yet I have failed to locate them in passenger lists leaving UK.

Am I working along the correct lines?
Can anyone supply useful links where I should be searching please.

Incidentally, this morning I am unable to get connection the National Archive?
Many thanks.

As far as I am aware there are no passenger lists for travel to Europe from England. They could have gone by ferry from Dover to Calais.

Ah well, that would explain my complete lack of success.  :-\

Thank you so much Stan....

So perhaps train from Manchester to London / Dover, then the shortest possible sea crossing, and  across France by train......
