Is this John Wood my ancestors brother?
« on: Monday 11 March 19 16:17 GMT (UK) »
Hello.

Im trying to establish whether a John Wood ive found on the census is the brother of my ancestor William Wood.
I know from help given on another post that William was baptised in Canterbury 18/06/1826,son of William Wood and Elizabeth(Woodman).
He had a brother John bp 09/11/1817 Canterbury.

I have found a John born c1817 Canterbury on the census.The 1841 has him born 1816 piece486 book20 folio21.The 1851 born 1815 St Pauls Canterbury.1861 born 1817 Canterbury.

Frustratingly,theres another John Wood born c1817 Canterbury.1841 John b1815 piece491 book10 folio36.1851 b1815.On 1861 born 1817.This one lives in Strood.

Im more inclined towards the first John,if its either. What id like to know is whether theres any way I can confirm if either of the Johns on the census is the one baptised 1817,brother of my ancestor.

The first John married in 1836,to Mary Ann Godsmark I believe.Ive seen the marriage on the online parish records and no parents are given.

As the marriage is of no use for this, are there any ways I can confirm that either of the census Johns are the baptized one.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.
