I like to think I had a hand in setting this up over 4 years ago. I have tried, over those 4 years, to read as many stories as I could, saying the name out loud (to my computer: I am a firm believer in the fact that the name spoken aloud will live again for that short while). So many men and boys, so many stories - and even more bereaved souls. It's been heart-breaking but, at the same time, uplifting. The numbers we grew up hearing about were so overwhelming, it was impossible to think of them as real people. Now we know who they were, or at least some of them. We have learned their stories and those of their relatives; I for one will continue to hold them dear...and no, I'm not being sentimental. I'm of an age to be able to understand just how brave they were and what sacrifices they made for us.
May they all Rest in Peace, with our grateful thanks.
