William Merrigold b. 1845-1849 Ipswich

Has anybody more information on a William Merrigold as above. He is last listed in the 1861 living with a John Skinner 34 yrs brn Alderton, Suffolk, Lucy Skinner 25 yrs brn Bawdsey, Suffolk and William Merrigold 18 yrs b. Ipswich, a nephew.
Surname has lots of variations but the usual is Merrigold with one or two " r's ".
I've tried to find a marriage to John Skinner and Lucy, but not found so far.

No.  This is the strange thing.  I looked at the William Hubbard, 2 yrs old you just posted; and thought hmm.  Only because the William Merrigold who I later found in West Ham and died in 1918 said he was born in Ipswich, Suffolk.

I have possibly linked him to a William Merrigold who came to New Zealand in the early 1870's and married in 1875.  Which would possible work with him not being there in 1871; however, not being able to find a birth or him in the 1851 census is very strange.  Oh, this William Merrigold vanished again in 1881 and I think he returned to the UK.

So I was trying to find a link between the name Merrigold and Hubbard with the 1861 census.

Just to clarify the William Merrigold you refer to is listed as Matthew William Merrigold b 1845  Ipswich post 1881

There is this birth on the GRO Birth Index with no mothers maiden name - Could this be the William in 1851 and took his father's surname post 1841??
