Hello Kay
Received the marriage of 1851 in Ipswich.
James Marigold and Elizabeth Hubbard. He was of full age a bachelor and Private in 11th Hussars. Residence at time of marriage was Ipswich. Father was William Marigold a Carpenter.  Elizabeth Hubbard of full age, spinster, Ipswich was residence and George Hubbard was her father, a Bricklayer. James signed; however Elizabeth signed with 'x' he mark. Two witnesses were a Robert Poynster and a John Anderson.  So it seems no family members signed.

Also birth cert;  for Matthew William Marigold. Born on 28th December 1848 at Royal Hospital Dublin; and was baptised on 26th September 1852. James a Private and Elisabeth were parents.  The Rev. G. Hare, Chaplain R. Hospital. So James was still in army in 1852. Can't find anything after that.

I have asked for some help in obtaining James' attestion and army records which will help to answer a few questions.  He was tried in 1846 and again for being absent in 1847.  I would say his relationship with Elis. played a major part in all of this.  (Also an incident date of 1/1/1851 - which may be today with his marriage in Ipswich.)

If I can get his army record would be awesome.

Great to have the certs.

the J Marigold who was discharged 15 Nov 1886 had attested on 8 Sept 1886 so not your man.

Pension records are on FindmyPast & there's an index on FamilySearch

https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/1952868

but James Marygold not showing up, so possibly died in service, therefore no record.

Thanks.
Dearly loved to know what happened to him, (and Elisabeth his wife).
I am trying to find something via his military record (and did post a question on rootschat this morning). Am working through it all.

Glad that the certs confirm the family and good luck with your request re his records on the Armed Forces Board.   I wonder if Elizabeth remarried if James died  :-\

Kay
I've attached a scan of the baptism for Matthew Hubbard St. Matthew, Ipswich in 1849, mother Elizabeth Hubbard.  Father not showing.  I am trying to connect this Matthew with the Matthew W. Merrigold who was born to James Marigold (11th Hussars) and Elizabeth Hubbard in 1852.

Hi
The address given when she baptised Matthew was Handford Road, Ipswich. I thought if I could make a connection to the family, with those living in Handford Road; then it is 100%.  I am fairly certain it is little Matthew William born to James and Elis.;( and baptised later after their marriage in 1851);  but would like to find out (if possible) who was living at this address at the time of this baptism in 1849; Handford Road showing as the address she gave when she initially baptised him.  James was in the army and probably very hard keeping a relationship happy!
