look up please for Annie Hunter
« on: Sunday 17 March 19 11:44 GMT (UK) »
I have just come across this unpleasant notification on Ancestry and not totally sure whether it is part of my Hunter Family.

See attached.

Annie  Hunter  born in Ultimo was it seems murdered age 3 in Camperdown.. by William Hunter.  It seems it was for her life Insurance.

bless her.. now I think this is 1890...

I have NO idea if she belongs... to my Hunters but as I have lots of them from that area and with those names - it has made me curious to find more and ascertain.. one way or the other.

any help would be great.. I have searched where I can for Aus records   and can only get basic ?

FindMyPast newspaper even with an extra sub give me nada. :(

xin TIA

Hi Xin,

Bowman flag flutters still.

Trove free to search website has the government gazettes  and also the newspapers.

Please make sure you have tissues handy before you look for any cuttings .... It is a tragic story ....

Wife Annie had taken out the life insurance on the children.

If you can find the father William's death certificate, it should give his parent's names and other identifying details if known by the informant. Similarly with his marriage certificate.

Knowing his parents may help you work out if he is one of yours.

Added:
I can't see an obvious marriage between William and Annie in the NSW indexes. I did find little Annie's birth though - her birth or death cert should tell you her mother's maiden name which may help find her parent's marriage (and her husband's parent's names).  :)
