Francis Trotter Thorne b.1871 Greenwich
« on: Thursday 28 March 19 13:18 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

Please could somebody do a quick look up for me?  I can see Francis T (Trotter) Thorne b.1871 Greenwich/Deptford and his brother Robert H or K Thorne born 1872? not sure as 5-6 years difference to previous census - they are together living in Surrey but no names of family with them.  As they are 9 and 10 years old I need to know who else is with them at the household.  Or maybe they are at a school?

Also looking for marriages.  I think Francis possibly married someone called Justinia?  Can't find anything.  There were connections with Scotland.  Not sure what happened to Robert.  He might be the same as Robert Kirkwood but not sure.  The boys are in the 1871 census with parents Henry Peniston Thorn (final 3 missing) from Bath  and Janet (Napier) from Scotland.  Any help would be much appreciated.  Thank you.

Thank you so much.  Not what I expected - the school was for poor people.  Think their father died so they had to go to this school as mother unable to cope perhaps.  That's helped me a lot.  Thanks.

The 1871 census should have both Robert Kirkwood Thorne & Francis Trotter Thorne as 5 weeks but Robert has not got weeks against his entry.

THORNE, ROBERT  KIRKWOOD     mmn NAPIER

I suspect that these may be relevant

Marriages Dec qtr 1914
Thorne    Robert K    (spouse Fanny Coveney)
Pancras    1b   239

Marriages Sep qtr 1936
Thorne    Robert K    (spouse Mahoney)
Pancras    1b   247
This appears to be his son Robert K Thorne

Death  Jun qtr 1949
Thorne    Robert K    78

Probate index confirms that is Robert Kirkwood Thorne  https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/#wills
