Can anyone help please, I have a marriage in Wales in 1945. The groom states that he’s a private gives a number which I assume is his army number, and then the abbreviation HCC, does anyone know what this stands for ? His address was Eniskillen where he was born if that’s any help. Thank you

I'm not an authority however it may be something related to e.g. Headquarters Command? Coy.

What is the army number?  There is an outside chance that will point towards his regiment or corps.

Marriage certificate under rank or profession it says Private no:7046058 HCC would be grateful for any help, not that good with war stuff !

The block of numbers  7040001 to7075000  were allocated to the Royal Irish Fusiliers, no help in answering what HCC stands for.

Edit: maybe not, Fusiliers were Infantry not Cavalry.

Marriage certificates are notorious for a) badly written military terms that are capable of mistranscription/misinterpretation and b) terms concocted by well meaning civilian minds that aren't proper terminology.

HCC is not a term that makes any sense in conjunction with a service number in a column for a man's rank.  Is the HCC 100% clear or could it be something else LCpl for example? Might be worth posting a clip?

Thank you very much  ;) Irish Fusiliers makes sense.  HCC is clearly written, for once I got a certificate that was easy to read ! Still a puzzle though......
