Kinghorn tree losing its leaves
« on: Monday 01 April 19 09:00 BST (UK) »
On 20 th April 2015 I posted a thread saying George Kinghorns Mother? Who I believed was my 4 x Great Grandfather but I think I have found I have been following the wrong family line.  :'(

Robert Kinghorn born abt 1818 in Chillingham from the census and sometimes Chatton
The only birth/baptism I found was Robert Kinghorn Birth 09/08/1819
Baptism 22/08/1819 Wooler Northumberland England, Parents George Kinghorn and Mary Watson, siblings were Thomas Born 1821, Alice born 1827, Mary Ann born 1830, George 1832, William 1834, John 1836, Eleanor 1839 all born in Wooler.

Recently I have been to St Mary`s Church Wooler to see if I could find anything more and found the following burials which I think link to George and Mary Watson
Mary Kinghorn inf daughter of George Kinghorn, Nailor by his wife Mary late Watson died Dec 4 1824 aged 1 yr
30 Jul 1826  Mary Kinghorn infant daughter of George Kinghorn, Nailer by Mary his wife late Watson, died July 29, aged 9 Months, Croup
6 Aug 1826  George Kinghorn infant son of George Kinghorn, Nailor by his wife Margaret (sic) late Watson, died Aug 5, Aged 9 mts. Croup
Mary Anne Kinghorn of Wooler Sept 22 1836 aged 6 years
Thomas Kinghorn of Wooler Feb 17 1836 aged 15 years
John Kinghorn Oct 12 1837 Aged 1 year
Robert Kinghorn Apr 18 1839 Aged 19 years
George Kinghorn Jan 23 1870 age 37 years
Mary Kinghorn of Wooler Aug 11 1844 aged 48 years
George Kinghorn Mar 30 1856 aged 59 years
These all fit the family but Robert died 1839 which will explain why he wasnt on the 1841 census with George. The only other 1841 census with Robert Kinghorn was with James Kinghorn and Mary

James Kinghorn was born 1784 in Belford which was where we went to next. Belford Museum holds births, marriages and deaths transcriptions so spent some time trawling through the records
James Kinghorn married Mary Bolton 1st June 1806 in Belford
29 Nov 1806 Phillip Kinghorn (b 27th) 1st son of James Kinghorn, Hind, Native of Ross by his wife Mary daughter Robert Bolton Native of (Blank)
Christian Kinghorn baptised 12 Feb 1809 Belford
Eleanor Kinghorn baptised 22 Jul 1810 Belford
25 Apr 1816 Burial record for Robert Kinghorn also on free reg Robert Kinghorn aged 1 yr 6 mts, burial abode Chillingham Barns

Coincidently Robert that dies is living in Chillingham. I can`t find a baptism for him. Did they have another son they called Robert born in Chillingham?

On the 1851 census there is a John Kinghorn born abt 1824 in Bamburgh with parents James and Mary, Again I cant find a birth/ baptism

Robert Kinghorn my 3 x great grandfather had 4 children James ( My 2 x great grandfather) born abt 1847 Felton or Helm on the Hill no birth baptism found
John born 1851 in Shilbottle, Robert abt 1854 West Chevington tho baptism seems to have been in Eglingham 24th May 1857 the same day as George his brother. George Kinghorn baptism 24th May 1857. The only birth I could find was John Kinghorn 18 July 1851 Longdyke, Shilbottle which I have a copy of his birth certificate, fathers name Robert Kinghorn and mothers name Mary Kinghorn formally Caisley. I cant find this marriage which would prove James as the father and not George

Any Ideas where to go from here? Any help would be much appreciated

Susan
