Help with making sense of Tewkesbury Parish Register
« on: Sunday 07 April 19 22:44 BST (UK) »
I may be missing something but I can't work this out. ???

Ancestry lists the baptism of Mary Matthews, daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth, on the 11 April 1805 in Tewkesbury. When you look at the document it appears to be a bishops Transcript.

However when compared to the Tewkesbury parish register none of the names of those baptised in April match.

I thought that the document might refer to burials but they don't match either.

I can't fathom it out - I would be grateful if someone could have a second look for me. Thanks.

Check the date(s) on the baptisms.
Have they, for example simply pointed you to the wrong page in the images?
Wouldn't be Ancestry's first time.
All census look up transcriptions are Crown Copyright http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/

Hello Pauline,

I think you have it! I have just been back and checked - and you are right  it is not baptism in 1805 but burials in 1806.

Thanks

Rob
