Links to Ogston family from 1700's in Aberdeenshire
« on: Tuesday 09 April 19 05:52 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone else working on their family tree has any links with the following people?

Alexander Ogston (b 1701 d 1771) who was married to Ann Scott (unsure on exact dates)
William Ogston (b around 1749 d 1836) who was married to Margaret Robertson.
William also had 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Their names are Alexander Ogston, James Ogston, Margaret Ogston, Jean Ogston, John Ogston.

William and Margaret had 4 children. Their names were Mary, Alexander, Anne, and William.

If anyone has any links to these people in there family tree or any information that would help my research it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ricki Ogston

I am still having trouble finding the parents of Alexander Ogston (1701-1771). If anyone has any links to this person or if anyone has any advice for me for finding links this far back it would be appreciated.

Have you considered the Alexander Ogston born in 1694 in Longside as a possibility for your Alexander 1701? His father is William.

Thanks for that, this could be a possibility as I do have quite a few Ogston's in my family tree from that area. I will have a look into it. Thanks.

I have a Joan Ogston (1873-1953) who was my great grandmother, married to Alexander Scott and they lived in Fraserburgh.

Joan's mother was Elizabeth Ogston (b.1840), father unknown, and Elizabeth was a daughter of William Ogston (1779-1857) and Isabella Cadger.

William's parents were Alexander Ogstone (b. 1741) and Christian Marr.

Any connections there to your line?
