Stanislas & Domitille Boissel. St Croix, FRANCE.

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for help finding any information on the above couple.

In the 1891 Channel Islands census the information given is -

Stanisla Boissel, 53, Labourer, St Croix (France)
Domitille, 51, St Croix (France)
Francois, 14, Stone Cracker, St Croix (France)
Jean Nicolle, 39, (Boarder - Quarryman), St Croix (France)

Could also be 'St Croise'.

Stanisla dies 01/01/1895 in St Sampson, Guernsey and his wife Domitille goes on to Marry Pierre Callence.

Does anyone know of any way to trace Stanisla & Domitille further back in France?

Have spotted 2 x Sainte Croix - Departement of Lot and Departement of Saône-et-Loire

These are part (1833-1842) of the on line NMDs (ie. BMDs) for Sainte Croix, in the Departement of Lot. They are not indexed.

The last page of each of the birth years ("naissances") include a "table de naissances" that may make it easier.

Haven't yet checked for any records on line for the Departement of Saône-et-Loire

Note - have now located "tables decannales" for Lot.

Just checked URL - it delivers the starting point for checking the registers, not the selected 1833-1842 section I was expecting/hoping.

Can you navigate from there?

The registers for Saône-et-Loire are on line. I navigated my way to the "tables decannales" but my PC threw another "wobbly" and switched off before I could check.

"Tables decannales" are 10 year summaries of the "naissances, deces and mariage" for a commune - eg 1833-1842.

Registers are held by "commune" within "Departement". Hopefully, the "St.Croix" on the '91 Census is a "commune".
