St. George's Anglican Church cemetery, Hurstville
« on: Sunday 21 April 19 02:01 BST (UK) »
The headstones for this churchyard were apparently removed in the 1960s.  I'm wondering if anyone is aware of any transcription or photographs of the headstones which may have been made?  Thanks, J.

I asked Mr Google and found a site regarding the Hurstville Cemetery Act

http://classic.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/nsw/num_act/sgcoehca1961n63500.pdf

One section states
"compile a register of the names of and other relevant information in respect of persons buried in
the said land, so far as such names and information can be obtained, and deposit such register in the Mitchell Library, Sydney, where it shall be maintained so as to be available for inspection by any
interested person from time to time"

Hope this helps

Cass

also Hurstville Historical Society, have a publication regarding the Cemetery

Thank you Cass T.  Very interesting reading!  Looks like something to look for on my next trip to the Mitchell.  Looks like at least some of the burials are beneath the rectory.    I need to find out whether the monument referred to in the document exists - and if so, what is inscribed on it.

The link to hurstvillefamillyhistor.org.au/publications didn't work for me so I'll try to find it another pathway.
