Seeking an opinion on likelhood
« on: Thursday 25 April 19 05:02 BST (UK) »
John WAIN & Rebecca WHITMORE married 12 Oct 1786 St Peters Market Bosworth.

The couple has a number of children and I am in the process of documenting each child's next step in terms of surviving childhood, marriages etc.

Their 3rd son William was baptised 27 Sep 1795 St Peters Market Bosworth.  There is a William WAIN who was living at Sibstone who married at Hinckley, St Mary's Elizabeth BARNETT of Hinckley 28 Mar 1815.  William would have been around 20 in 1815.

Witnesses William WHITWORTH & Elizabeth WAIN.

The next possible I can locate is the marriage at Loughborough 11 Aug 1821 by Banns between William WAIN & Charlotte HIGGINS both of the Parish.

As yet I havent located William in the 1851 census so thought to ask others who may b able to see the solution better than I currently can.

William in 1851 - https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:SGBV-4N8

I can't find an Elizabeth Barnet who was born in Bramcote c1790-96 but the name might be Barret.
There was an Elizabeth Barratt baptised in Bulkington, the next village, on 15 Sep 1793, daughter of William Barratt and Elizabeth Luckman.

Hello David,

Thanks so much for your assistance.

It seems that William WAIN was born at Stapelton and not Market Bosworth so he is officially ruled out.  We are narrowing the field.   ;D

Could he be the William Wain aged 40 who died at the County Bridewell and was buried 7 Dec 1836 at St Mary's?

Newspaper reports say he had been brought to the prison 30 November having been violent and disorderly at the House of Industry at Barrow, where he had been an inmate for some time.  He was known at the prison, having been there previously.  Although he was supposed to serve hard labour this was remitted due to him being epileptic.  He had a mild fit the day he entered the prison, then on the Monday he had another, more violent one around 4-5pm,  He seemed to have largely recovered, but when the turnkey went to check on him at 9pm he was dead, although still warm.

Hello Jomot,

Thanks so much.  The age 'fits' although I am unable to locate a burial.

Any idea where I might locate one??
