Please can the Witness Signatures be improved enhanced?
« on: Saturday 27 April 19 21:31 BST (UK) »
Hello

18th August 1778 Marriage of John Hood of Scarborough, Widower and Sarah Hammond, Widow, at St Giles in The Fields, Middlesex.

I have the Allegation & Bond and believe these signatures are different.

Perhaps bottom witness might be Stephens?

Thank you, Mark

I would say the bottom one looks like William Stephens. You might have more luck with the top one if you get a new image taken from the original record.

Also very difficult wih it enlarged so much..... Stephens seems to be 2nd one
Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

I agree with Stephens and the Christian name looks to be a shorten name possibly beginning with M. The first looks like a shortened Jonathan T....os maybe Thomas.

Hello All

Thank you.

I'll email the archive to look at original.

Sarah Hammond was a Widow and Mariners are a nuisance away, in a City!
