Beatrice Coxon
« on: Monday 29 April 19 18:32 BST (UK) »
Hi All,

Dr Beatrice Coxon received her medical education at the Edinburgh School of Medicine for Women, from where she qualified in 1909. Her name was included in the Medical Directory for Scotland on 22 October 1909. Dr Coxon held the post of House Surgeon at the Alnwick Infirmary, Northumberland (1910) and was Resident Medical Officer of the Hospice in Edinburgh and Resident Medical Officer and Lecturer at Battersea Bridge, Clapham Maternity Hospital. In 1910, she was elected member in the North of England Branch of the British Medical Association.  A newspaper article suggests she was from Northumberland.  But all I need is her Date of birth and Date of death. If anyone can help this would be fantastic.

Have you looked on www.freebmd.org.uk?  Several birth entries for that name including 1882 in Durham

Did she marry?  Any death would be under her married name.

Either way - if you are looking for precise birth and death date you would have to buy a copy of the birth and death certs..

Have you looked for her on the 1939 register - that would give her birthdate

There is an article in the Western Daily press of 15.12.1928 in which Beatrice Coxon, medical practitioner, formerly known as Beatrice Rogers, states that she renounced the use of the surname Rogers and assumed that of Coxon on 2nd November 1928.

A 1920 article in the Western Daily Press refers to her as Dr Beatrice Coxon Rogers.
