Emily Skuse
« on: Thursday 02 May 19 08:07 BST (UK) »
Emily Skuse born on the 16th June 1856, Bristol, parents George and Louisa Skuse.  On the 25th October she marries Robert Evans at St Matthias Bristol.  Can find no information on Robert. After 1873 they seem to disappear.

On familysearch have come across some interesting information which makes me think they had moved to the USA.
Name Robert Evans
Event marriage
Event date 11 Aug 1895
Event place Manhattan New York
Age 22
Birth year 1873
Birthplace Bristol England
Father William R Evans
Mother Emily Skuse
Spouse's name Mary Probert

I have left some bits out.

I have looked  on the GRO site for a birth in 1873 for Robert but can find nothing (did not put mother's surname in case the spelling was wrong. The family may of moved and not registered the birth.

There is also a birth of a daughter Adeline in 1886 born in Manhattan

Can find out no more so any help would be appreciated

This may be the Evans family in the 1900 census - https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MSJK-VD9  It says they immigrated in 1880, and Emily had 4 children, so that would account for the married Robert being elsewhere.

Same family in 1910 with Emily widowed - https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M5SS-5YM

The 1910 census states Emily and son William immigrated in 1886.

Could this be Emily, with Robert and William on 1886 immigration record?

Perhaps the outgoing record for the ship may have more info about them?

Thanks  shellyesq, yes could be a record of Emily's death in 1915, but her mother's name was Louisa Pullin??? maybe a mistake on the death entry.

There is a Social Security application for Robert Ewans (not sure if this is a misspelling or not) born 13 Apr. 1873 in Bristol, UK to Robert W. Ewans & Emily Skuse.

There is a WWI draft registration card for Robert Ewans born 13 Apr. 1874 and living in Guttenberg, New Jersey.  It says he was a US citizen by his father's naturalization before he was the age of majority.  His daughter was noted to be Charlotte Ewans.  You may be able to see it on familysearch.org, but it's acting up for me at the moment.  The last name does look like Ewans to me.

Charlotte A. Ewans is on the New Jersey birth index as born 9 Sep 1900 in NB, Hudson Co. and daughter of Robert Ewans & Mary Probert.
