J. Halsall living at 49 Netherley Road, Wigan in 1947.

Hello, I am looking for help in finding out information about a gentleman called J. Halsall. Unfortunately I do not have a first name. In March of 1947 his name appears on a death certificate as the informant. His address is given as 49 Netherley Road, Wigan (the Coppull area, I think). His relationship to the deceased is given as nephew. The deceased is William Henry Sherratt. William is the subject of another long post of mine, I know. I apologise for starting another one but I do not wish to clutter up the previous post. I wish to focus attention on Mr Halsall in the hope that his name (along with the connection with the address) may catch somebody's eye.

As that event was 72 yrs ago you would probably need to contact the nearest library to that address to see if they hold electoral registers for that period.  They may look it up for you but it may not give his full christian name - just an initial

William Sherratt was 84 when he died so any nephew could have been in his 50’s or 60’s at that time. 

Did William have any sisters who married a Halsall?  There is an 1875 marriage between Ann Sherratt and Richard Halsall.  Check them on 1881/1891 censuses to see if they had a son with the initial J?

You need to also bear in mind that the term nephew could also apply to Great nephew - son of another niece/nephew of William

Probably not Netherley Road, Coppull but Netherby Road, Wigan.
