Is this right then?

Samuel and Maria  Bunyan of Cowper Street  had sons Herbert  and George aged 19yrs and 15 yrs in 1901

Hugh and Eliza Bunyan (later of Park Place) had sons George and Herbert aged 12 yrs and 10 yrs in 1901.

It would be the second family who are of interest. There is also a daughter Annie in this family.

1901 1519/110/13

Park Place was a set of 16 addresses that were between 70 & 72 Park Street....

At #16 in the 1911 Luton Directory is Hugh Bunyan
At #16 in the 1917 Luton Directory is Mrs Bates !

Went on a visit to Luton Library yesterday..... occupants of 16 Park Place, Park Street.

1910 John Bacchus
1911 Hugh Bunyan
1912 Hugh Bunyan
1913 - no directory
1914 ? Napp
1915 Frederick Perry he was at no.13 in 1916
1916 Mrs Bates
1917 Mrs Bates
1918 Mrs Bates
1919 directory was not in street order but no Mrs Bates listed **
         Annie Bunyan was at no.15
1920-1922 no directories
1923 A Plowman

** Interestingly in 1919  an Ada Bates is listed at 7 Park Lane as is Esther Foster
They were both there again in 1923
Previously Esther Foster is listed there 1915-1918 & also in 1925
However as per Beds Electoral Registers, Ada Bates, Esther Foster & Emma Burton are there between 1918 & 1926

Hi

Just in case it helps . . . . .

There may have been a 3rd brother
1922 QM Luton 3b 613 Kenneth R Bates (mmn Bates)
AND
1931 QJ Luton John T Wing married Florence N Bates ( b 1898 Luton )

I bet if someone looks that they can be found together living in the same dwelling in Luton.(I've not got time to check, yet)

Are these people connected to Ada?

Connected? ( as mentioned )

"There may have been a 3rd brother"
As in Ada may have had 3x boys

At moment, the third may have been "parked" with a relative of Ada.  ( sister/cousin/etc? )

Suggest you get Kenneth's birth certificate to verify his mother's name. I reckon he is son of Florence as they are together in 1939 at Wick Hill, Luton.

We cannot quote 1939 ( which is why I didn't )

Florence/Ada/another(in the family)may have given birth to the boy.
Just pointing out a possibility

I think people do quote from the free search -whether that is allowed or not.
However, if it helps, in the 1940s Kenneth Bates and the Wings are living at 5 Wick Hill.
Florence’s father, Percy is close by.
It looks like a different family but as you say, it was a possibility.
