Hi Deirdre,
Wondering if you can see any information about Harry Goddard's passport information, which might give me more clues for him in Australia.
Jan

Harry sailed from Sydney to Victoria, British Columbia, arriving in October 1926 (fare paid by his mother!). Destined for his mother - Mrs K Goddard - in Vancouver. He was a butcher and landed as an ‘immigrant’.

He left Montreal for Plymouth in July 1927, as a carpenter, stating last place of permanent residence as Australia.

It was only a passenger list i found and i included everything on the list in my post sorry. There is a tree on ancestry which gives some details including a daughter in Australia but I haven’t looked into that.

I have posted the following on your other current thread.

:D  Some info that may be very helpful

WA electoral roll, 1925 PERTH,
John Clifford PURVIS, 117 Zebina Street, a labourer
William Ransom PURVIS, same address, also a labourer.

Canada Incoming passenger list
right hand page for entry re Harry...
Butcher
mother Mrs K Goddard, 4018 Avenue St, Vancouver
Friend, Mr J Piervis, 117 Zebina St, Western Australia
Melbourne/A45441  21/07/26 (Passport issued for Harry/ the number of that passport/date issued)

And, my apologies, my retired rellie is not a former Archivist, he is STILL an Archivist, but not gainfully employed. And he ought to join RChat  :D

Deidre,
I have been drawing up my tree on Ancestry, (New/Thorn/Brindley) plus another cousin (New-Holland) doing the same, but we are still trying to confirm the correct details.
The only daughter that he would have had, was one in Western Australia, named Elsie Corpus and plus a Son Henry Corpus, who were illegitimate, (interesting though !! Elsie & Henry being Goddard family names) born to a Half Indigenous lady in Broome, W.Aust. where this Harry Goddard apparently was working as a Pearler on his own Lugger Boats, also being Licensee of the Dampier Hotel.  He was a Butcher coming to Australia, then owned a Bakery in Broome, back to being a Butcher when he went to Canada, and then a Carpenter when he went back to UK.   There he became Licensee at the Osborn Arms Hotel in Reading, Berkshire.    Changed his occupation all the time.
We are trying to get all of the details together, as we have DNA matches with the grand-daughter of the partner of Harry Goddard (or Henry)
I think we have it right now, he must be the man responsible, we all needed the right information for closure.  Thanks Deirdre.

Deirdre, this has been the most amazing research, we have been down so many lines, but once we got the Court Records from Perth W.A. showing the name of the father, we were able to take it further.
Unfortunately, the record did not show the christian name, and there were two Goddards living in Broome at the time.    We mistakenly went down the track of both of these fellows believing them to be sons of Leather Merchants from India.  Was not to be, and this has taken us 6 months to get the family connection.    They ended up not to be brothers, and it appears that the Harry Goddard in Broome is definitely the man who fathered these two children.    What a journey it has been.

On the 1926 passenger list there are 2 columns at the end which give passport information - number, place and date issued. This isn't very clear but you may deduce something from the information.
If you would like a copy of the passenger list, send me a pm with your personal email address and I will forward it. (plus any others your require)
