James John Walker
« on: Saturday 25 May 19 13:18 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am trying to trace the birth and parents of:

James John Walker.

He was born c 1898 (aged 22 years when in married on the 19th July 1920); the marriage taking place in Portmoak, Scotland.
His parents were named as James John Walker (coalminer) and Annie (nee Lawrie) - deceased.

He remained in Scotland, both his children being born there, and died in Fife in 1960 - aged 61 years.

However, I cannot find any trace of his birth, nor can I find a marriage for his parents, or, indeed, trace them on any census.

Can anybody help?

Thanks

Sue

There is a WALKER family at Kettle in 1901, it includes JAMES R age 3, parents ANDREW A 27  and JANET 28, so not sure if the right people.
They are in Newburgh Fife in 1911, sadly James still with an R.

Hi
I have just registered with rootschat and I would to thank aidanrest for posting the request about James John Walker.
Thank you Annie and Colin for the above suggestions unfortunately the names on these records do not match.
James John Walker was my grandfather and I'm trying to locate his birth.
James John Walker married Elizabeth Brown Leishman McKnight in Portmoak Kinross-shire 19 July 1920, address given for both Kirkness Row Portmoak.
James father was also known as James John Walker and his mother was Annie Lawrie ( deceased) as recorded on marriage certificate. James age at date of marriage was 22 yrs Annie age 18 yrs on certificate.
I have been unable to find a birth certificate for my grandfather James or anything about his father and mother.
My grandfather died on 15 May 1960 his address was 6 Marmion Rd Lochore Fife.
I have used Find my Past Family search Ancestry and Scotlandspeople without success.
I've spoken to Scotlandspeople who carried out a search but no matches found.
Having spoken to the family there is a possibility that my grandfather was born in Ireland I can find no trace here and got a search for his birth and his parents marriage done through PRONI again sadly nothing found.
If anyone has any suggestions they would be very much appreciated.

I note on family search that there was the following
John James Walker
birth:2 April 1898
christening:20 April 1898
Bishop-Wearmouth, Durham, England
Father's Name   John Edward Walker
Mother's Name   Annie Walker

More than one more in the N.E ENGLAND around that time.
I know it is the wrong way round but you never know.

Hi Colin
I located the birth in Bishop Wearmouth and found him in the 1901 Census, Annie is recorded as a widow and My great grandfather was recorded as still living in 1920, on my grandfather wedding certificate Annie was recorded as deceased. Thank you for your suggestion.
