Mr. McRae impressed me as a good husbandman. He does not put sheep, including lambs, on to
grazing oats until 11 a.m., and takes them off before 4.30 p.m., thus avoiding digestive and other troubles.

My 2x great was a yeoman on his marriage licence (1820) but became an Ag lab by the 1841 cemsus. The family owned farm land and properties on the Welsh/Shropshire border. After his father's death, his mother and eldest brother sold most of it in the 1820s - I have copies of the deeds of sale.  He was the youngest son.

In my lot, as far as I could tell, "husbandman" tended to be used where stock - cattle or sheep - were involved, and often instead of farm labourer, where Dad was listed as the resident farmer.
