Jane Noakes
« on: Tuesday 28 May 19 18:30 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some help tracing the parents of Jane Noakes, born about 1820 in Sulhampstead, Berkshire. She married Thomas White, 1841 in Bradfield Berkshire and they had 4 children, Arthur 1842, Lydia 1845, Martha 1846 and William 1850. Jane died 1860 in Easthampstead, Berkshire.

While i can find the family in the 1851 census, which includes a niece with them, Anne Mearwood born 1848 in Warfield, Berkshire, i cannot find Jane in the 1841 census or her baptism.

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

1841 is after the start of registration.

So, When , where, and with whom?

Exact location of marriage.
Location AT marriage
Names of parents.
names of witness(es).

You could purchase the marriage cert of Jane to Thomas White which hopefully would give her father's name and occupation.

HO107 Piece 23 Book no 19 Folio 11 Page 17

There is a Thomas White living in the household so possibly Jane's husband to be.

Possibly Jane in 1841

HO107/23/19/F11/p17
Place Farm, Streatley, Bradfield, Berks.
She is listed, with several others, with William Sheppard and family.

The original image is very faint as to be almost unreadable, but I would guess she was employed in some capacity by William Sheppard as either servant or farm worker.

TheGenealogist has a clear image.  As this is a look-up board I can't post a snip, but Thomas is listed as 'M.S.' (Male servant) and Jane as 'F.S.' (Female servant).  Both ages are shown as 20.

I couldn't find the first child Arthur's birth registration, but the other three all have mmn as NOKES.
