In case you're interested, there are also these notices:

"SKEET - 18th inst. at 60 Norfolk Road, Charles Samuel Skeet, son of the late Samuel and Susannah Skeet, of Caledonian Road, Islington, aged 15 years."
The Ipswich Journal. (Jan. 25, 1890)

"ANDREWS-SKEET. - October 16th, at St Margaret's Church, Ipswich, by the Rev. W. J Garrould, vicar of St Michael's, Edmund Francis, second son of Robert Andrews, of Walton, Suffolk, to Maud Hempson, only surviving child of the late Samuel Skeet and Mrs. Skeet, 60 Norfolk Road, Ipswich."
The Ipswich Journal. (Oct. 21, 1893)

Thank you very much, Maddys52 - that's really helpful. The family history sites seem to be very poor on Suffolk records.

No worries! I'm assuming you have them in all the censuses?

There is also this obit of interest:
"SKEET - July 20th, aged 66, Ann, beloved wife of W. S. Skeet, of Kirby-le-Soken."
 Essex Standard. (July 24, 1874)

Another marriage notice of your Samuel's sister Emily notes that the father is "William Skeet, farmer, Blue House, Kirby-le Soken, Essex".  [The Ipswich Journal. (Jan. 1, 1870)]
You can see the farm on this 1874 map (centre left)

Looking also at the HEMPSON line, there was an inquest into the death of Susannah's grandfather Nathaniel (farmer and schoolmaster at Ramsey) aged 75 in 1854 - "Found dead", most likely heart disease. Mentions his son Joseph Benjamin HEMPSON, grocer of Great Oakley as a witness.
Chelmsford Chronicle. (Mar. 31, 1854)

Not sure why I can't attach the image here, but if you'd like to see the article send me a pm.  ;)

Also, a report of an equity suit in 1878 regarding the estate of Sarah KEEBLE of Great Oakley (J B HEMPSON was one of the executors) naming many grandchildren including Susannah SKEET (widow).

The Ipswich Journal. (Mar. 12, 1878)
I could also send you this article if you're interested.  :)

Hi Maddy,

Thank you so much for this. In fact, my interest is in the Skeet line - my mother’s family. I had the Hempson-Skeet marriage in my tree, but realised recently that actually it was the ‘wrong’ Samuel Skeet - the information you sent me usefully confirmed this. My line came from around Grundisburgh and villages east of Ipswich, and Samuel was born in Cretingham, Suffolk, son of Samuel Dove Skeet & Harriet Skeet (Harriet Ashford Palmer). I have now ascertained that he emigrated to the USA where he married Ada Medore South.
Samuel Dove Skeet's father was my G3 grandfather, Robert Skeet of Rushmere (1774 - 1849) (m Sarah Dove) whose father was Robert Skeet of Culpho (1740 - 1805) (m Susanna Braham (formerly Syer).   I know very little about the Skeet family
Very many thanks for the useful details you sent - much appreciated.

It is because you can't attach images to 'look up boards'  :)
