There is also a record for Robert Bach on a Family Tree on Ancestry stating that "he was drowned at sea after falling overboard from the vessel "Wild Horse" on 20/10/64"

Robert Back, seaman, son of Edward Back, Commercial Traveller and Charlotte Mayland married Eliza Home, dau. of George Home and Ann Cameron, on 4/5/1857 at Leith, Midlothian.

The surname seems to switch between Bach and Back.

Can't find Robert's baptism BUT have found parents marriage - again slight variation in names.

Edmund Bach married Charlotte Myland 12/5/1827 St. Marylebone.

Found just one baptism:

Edmund Bach bp.2/3/1828 St. Sepulchre, London, son of Edmund and Charlotte.   Edmund's occupation 'Writer'.

What with Edmund/Edward and Bach/Back it's difficult trying to pursue this.

I did find an Edmund Bach aged 36 living in St. Anne, Soho, London who's described as 'Asst. Librarian B. Newson (?) - not sure what the word is after 'B' but that's what it looks like - and birthplace shown as 'Foreign Parts'. No other family with him.

Best I can do.

Annette

Is there a Robert Back in the records for 1861 to 1913?

Hi,

I think the 1841 occupation for the Edmund in St Anne Soho could be "Asst Librarian B Musem", I wonder if that's the British Musem?

Regards,
Daisy
