You've posted in IRELAND RESOURCES which isn't for queries. Just click on 'report to moderator' and ask for this topic to be moved to Derry/Londonderry board if Matilda stayed in Dungiven area/Co.L'derry when in Ireland or Ireland-General board otherwise.

Civil registration of births, deaths & Catholic marriages started in 1864 (from 1845 for non-Catholic marriages) so you'll need to see if any church records survive for her baptism although 1820s is possibly too early for existing registers.

In order to help we really do need more details. Is the marriage rosie99 found (1856 Belfast) the correct Matilda Jane Christie? If not, when and where did she marry or did she marry at all? When and where did she die? Do you have her in any census records? religion? any other information?

Added- newspaper announcement for that 1855 marriage gives her as "eldest daughter of late John Christie, Esq., Belfast" and it took place in York Street Presbyterian Church. Another newspaper announcement gives her death in 1865 with burial at Templepatrick.

If this is Matilda in the 1911 census in Ontario, she says she emigrated in 1846.

James Waddell    Head    M    47    United States
Matilda Waddell    Mother    F    91    Ireland  (presbyterian)
Eliza Jane Elliot    Sister    F    59    United States

I suspect this is the family in 1860 in Niagara, NY:

James Waddell           37    England (merchant tailor)
Matilda Waddell           36    Ireland
Thomas Waddell           9    New York
Eliza J Waddell           7    New York
John Waddell                   5    New York

and in 1865:
James Waddell    42
Matilda Waddell     40
Thomas C Waddell    14
Eliza J Waddell      12
John Waddell              10
James A Waddell       3

There are 2 Presbyterian churches in Dungiven but neither has any baptism records before 1836. I also looked in the 1831 census for Dungiven. There were 2 Christy households but neither was headed by an Andrew. All were Church of Ireland save for 1 Presbyterian.

Only Christy in Dungiven in the tithe applotment records (1834) was William.

There's now another topic on James Waddell-
https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=814390.new#new

James Waddell & Matilda Christie (no middle name) married 18 May 1849 in Toronto.
Death certificate (1916) for Matilda Christie Waddell (no middle name) gives father as Andrew and age as 95 (born c1821). 1901 census gives her as born 1 July 1825 but 1911 as July 1820.
