Elizabeth WAIN nee MORRIS was the wife of Thomas WAIN.  Elizabeth daughter of Thomas MORRIS and Sarah CHATTERLY was born 03 May 1806 Morton Bagot, Warwickshire.  She & Thomas married 16 Nov 1841 in Hinckley, Leicestershire.

They had 4 sons Charles WAIN [1841 - 1925]; Thomas [1841 - 1901]; William [1848 - 1848] and Joseph [1855 - 1930].  Charles, Thomas & Joseph died in Derby.  Newspaper articles concerning Charles and Joseph noted the boys arrived in Derby when they were between 7 -  11.

Their father Thomas died in Hinckley, Leicestershire in 1868 and given the newspaper articles it seems probable Elizabeth moved her family to Derby after Thomas death.

Or maybe Elizabeth was deceased before the young boys moved to Derby?

There is a death of a Elizabeth WAIN aged 85 - 4 q District: Derby; Volume; 7B; Page; 320 however this age is too old for the Elizabth I am seeking.

I had hoped to locate Elizabeth in the Census records however I had her in the 1861 census with her husband and boys although unable now to replicate that find.  I located her son Charles now married to Hannah  POTTER with his brother Joseph in Derby in 1871.  Their mother is not with them. to date I havent located Thomas junior in the 1871 nor subsequent census.

Some treeS on ancestry have Thomas dying in Derby but i am not sure that is correct.  Maybe Im wrong about the death in 1868 in Hinckley [burial 24 Sep 1868] however the age fits but ....... ::)

Thomas was a Green Grocer and his boys who survived to adulthood stayed in this type of employment.

I am hoping by posting any mistakes I have made may be identified and or Elizabeth located.

Are you sure that Thomas snr died in 1868?

The reason I ask is that this could be the Wains on the 1871 -

Thomas Wain   56 Hawker/Green Grocer. b. Twycross, Leicestershire
Elizabeth Wain   60 b. Hinckley, Leicestershire

RG10 Piece 3243 Folio 36 Page 29

Also the mother (Elizabeth) would appear to have the maiden name Linney as per the boys birth record.  ??? Or have I got it totally wrong!

1891 for the above couple -

Thomas Wain   76
Elizabeth Wain   80
RG12 Piece 2739 Folio 6 Page 8, Willow Row.

Down the road is a Joseph Wain b. 1855, Hinckley, Leics (grocer/baker) living with his wife Rachel and daughter Bertha in Willow Row. Could this be Thomas and Elizabeth's son?

The above address of Willow Row is mentioned in the newspaper article for Joseph's obituary in 1930.

There is a marriage of Thomas Wain -

q4 1841, Hinkley
Vol 15 Page 138

On the same page is an Elizabeth Linney but no Elizabeth Morris.

You have the date of the marriage for Thomas and Elizabeth Morris so I'm rather confused (doesn't take much these days  :) )

JJ

Added - I see from your post in 2016 that Elizabeth Morris' first husband was Thomas Linney. She then went on to marry Thomas Wain hence the difference in surname of above marriage.
