Albert Edward Gurney
« on: Friday 21 June 19 19:33 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find information on Albert Edward Gurney whose father was Thomas according to his marriage certificate.
..I know he married Jane Parvin on 25 March 1897 at St. Michael and All Angels, Paddington Westminster.  I have a copy of that certificate.
..I believe he was born abt. 1862-3, possibly in Oldham?
..I know that she married again to John Schuler in 1932 (Canada).
..I found a record of a Private Albert Edward Gurney, died 19 July 1916 in WW1 and is buried in France.   Because he had immigrated to Canada and then USA, I realize his enlistment would be under American records, but I can find no proof.
I am trying to locate (1) a definite birth record, and (2) direction how to confirm that the Private killed in France is the same person.

I'm spinning wheels here and any help at all will be greatly appreciated.
Ireland, Scotland, England, United States, Germany, Australia.

What occupation for groom & his father, stated age of bride & groom, 1901/1911 census entry?
What names witness?
What street address given in 1897?

Albert Edward Gurney ,who died 19 July 1916 and is commemorated at Thiepval ,served in Royal Fusiliers , number G 24610 ( this according to the CWGC site ).

The above is listed in the Register of Soldiers Effects as Albert Gurney , number 24610 Royal Fusiliers , died on or about 19 Jul 1916. This man's next of kin was his father Amos. Not your man , I'm afraid.

Albert Edward, 35, widower, steward of a club.  28 Star St
Father Thomas, a gardener

Jane, 25 spinster. Frith st, Soho

Witnesses George Martin and Elizabeth Kebble

6 months later, when Maggie May is baptised, their address is The Green, Mortlake and Albert is a commercial traveller.

Added: failing to find them in 1901 or 1911. Tree suggests they may have immigrated to North America in around 1902, but the other details on it are rather sketchy

Where does Oldham come from. The only one I can see is about 10 years younger than the Albert who married

I think there may be confusion with Albert Edward Gurney who married Sarah Caroline Widdell in Oldham in 1896. They were living in Oldham in 1911. ( His father was James Arthur Walmsley Gurney.)
