Names of Cousins
« on: Monday 24 June 19 23:30 BST (UK) »
Hi

Is anyone here able to help confirm the surname of the cousins mentioned in this extract from the 1627 will of Thomas Spaine.

In this extract he mentions his cousins four children, Elizabeth, William, Mary and Robert. The surname looks like it might be Earwell or Eanwell, or maybe Carnwell.

Is anyone able to confirm what the name is?

Thanks in advance.

Matt

Of these instances of the surname, the capital letters on all but one are quite unusual.

The exception is Mary's surname, which has a P of the usual form for this period.

So it must be Parnell.

You can see a similar style of capital P here ...

Scroll down to the P line, and see the 7th character in the line.
