does anyone know if the Army allowed brides-to-be to travel
abroad with military personel?

William Lane served with the Wiltshire regiment and was posted to India circa 1898/99. He married Harriette Le Cocq in Colaba India 23/3/1899. On the marriage certificate her nationality is given as English, although I believe she came from Alderney Channel Islands, where William was stationed prior to being posted to India.

I don't think her father was in the army at the time of her marriage as on her marriage certificate her father's occupation is Labourer.
