England and Wales National Probate Calendar
« on: Friday 28 June 19 16:58 BST (UK) »
I am trying to trace the father of an ancestor who was born out of wedlock. I have his birth certificate, and although his father's name is not on there, which I was expecting, he was given his Father's surname at birth along with his mother's. This has come about following a DNA test I took, and this person is shown as a second cousin, which would suggest that he was related to my grandmother-she had six brothers. Is there any way of finding out more information from the England and Wales National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administration) 1855-1995 as the ancestor who was born out of wedlock did leave a will and it did have his Father's surname on it, but not his Christian name. There is a number on the will, which is 8781101723G. He was born in Wandsworth, but died in Kent. Regards.

I am not sure I understand fully what you are asking but you could send for a copy of the will.
