James Smith Geary/Geory 1811
« on: Monday 01 July 19 17:26 BST (UK) »
I am seeking information on the birth and ancestors of James Smith Geary/Geory born circa 1811 in Wigtownshire.  I believe his father may be James and his mother Jane Kenna both possibly born circa 1785.  I have looked in Scotlandspeoplew with no success.  James Smith Geary/Geory moved to Liverpool and married Ann Hazeldine in 1840. Any help you can give me will be received with great thanks.

Hi RodEast,
There is a birth for James Smith Jorie on 16/06/1808 Wigtown. Parents James Jorie and Jane Kenna.
It's on Scotlands People, surname spelt different.

Thanks for that.  I have found 2 other siblings but no sign of the parents births or marriage.  There was a suggestion of another sibling, William, but no luck.  Any further suggestions much appreciated.

I searched for birth in Scotlands People with forename James and surname Jorie (after trying a few variations of the surname) within a number of years and Wigtownshire.
Just noticed you have replied, I think there are death notices for his mother and father (school teacher) in the Wigtownshire Free Press BMD. The family have been searched for in Ancestry noticeboards in the past if that is any help to you. Family Search also has some births. Couldn't find a marriage for parents either.

If you check out the link below on date 21/07/1848 you'll find death for Jean (Jane) M'Kinna (Jorie) on 18/07/1848, James Jorie has already died at this time, can't find deaths for either on S.P.
