1911 census website
« on: Tuesday 09 July 19 11:35 BST (UK) »
Back a few years ago, before the 1911 census was available on Ancestry and/or FindMyPast, there was a [government?] website where you could do look-ups?

Can anyone remember the name/provide a link, please?

Thanks

Any particular Country?

Thanks, but I don't want to search the 1911 census.  I want to find the [government] website where you used to be able to search and delete my account there.

Do you mean the site 1911census.co.uk? Not sure it was a govt site (would be .gov.uk?) but I used it when it first came out & they sent me newsletters up to 2013. However putting that URL into my browser redirects me to FindMyPast so I assume they took it over & it's otherwise defunct.

That could be it!  I stupidly just wrote "1911 census" in my notebook without detailing the link, and it was several laptops ago, so long gone from my "Favourites".  However, if the website no longer exists, then presumably neither does my "account", so I can cross that one off my list.

Thanks

Visible via the Internet Archive Wayback Machine:

I clicked a couple of 2012 and 2013 snapshots at random and it is branded as "powered by findmypast.co.uk".
BARTRAM - Nottingham, Derby, originally Beds (Stagsden)
PERFETT - St Pancras & Marylebone, Rugby, Nottingham
RADFORD - Nottinghamshire, also back & forth to Bury
RUDD - Durham, Margate, Bermondsey, Newcastle, Nottingham
