Hi all and good morning!!
Catherine’s father Robert, who was the army pensioner died in Plymouth in 1856, his second wife Mary always lived in Plymouth and died there.
I have trawled through loads of marriages so far of Jane Hunters in Plymouth and the London area, so far drawing a blank . Ann may have died in Plymouth, as there is a death in 1855.
Catherine’s stepson Thomas, may have married an Ann surname unknown ,as there is a Thomas who I have tracked through census records, a labourer born Greenwich living in Lambeth with his family,correct age.
Onwards and upwards!!, and thanks to you all again.

the Ann who died in 1855 was 65 from Central Street according to burial info 3 May 1855

Robert was buried in Ford Park Cemetery aged 60 13 April 1856 address Lambhay Hill

Esther buried St Andrew, Plymouth aged 27 24 May 1846 address Lambhay Hill

Thanks so much for that, it is great to discount the Ann Hunter d1855, but it means I have another missing lady. Yes, I was pretty sure Esther had died, so this confirms it.

Well done Osprey the address of Lambhay Hill is where they were in 1841 and 1851 -- Nooshie - to obtain the full birth record for Esther -- you will need to order the birth cert from the General Register Office in the normal way, unless there is a parish record for it somewhere.

Osprey has given you the year, volume number and page number.

You can find this by using the A-Z search facility on Find My Past. Input ' British Armed Forces Overseas births and baptisms' (without the quotes).

Then go to General Register Office Website and input that information in your order form. If you haven't used General Register Office before -- you will need to register first. (Please forgive me if you know this -- but you never know who knows what!)

Even though the birth is before the normal registration date for England and Wales -- there is an official reference for it, so GRO should have it. You can only input what you know -- for instance no registration district is shown on Esther's birth, so you cannot complete that particular box on your application form.

Robert's age isn't consistent in the records
1841 census - 56
1851 census - 59
1855 burial - 60
There is a possible pension record for a Robert Hunter born in Dunluce, Antrim who attested for the Royal Artillery at Coleraine 21 April 1808 when he was 19, he was a gunner & driver. He served until 9 Jan 1838, spent 5 years and 4 months in North America and was on the Walcheren Expedition.

Thanks Osprey,yes I have accessed that pension record and think it is him too.
I just do not understand how all the surviving daughters Ann, Catherine and Jane have disappeared.
I know that Catherine has been found in the workhouse,but what lay in store for her after? There is usually a paper trail, but not always. I have four or five other ‘missing’ relatives as well as these.
