Mount Panther Co Down 1860-1880 Staff and Residents
« on: Saturday 13 July 19 13:01 BST (UK) »
Does anyone have hints for finding a list of the staff and residents of Mount Panther in Co Down between about 1860 and 1880?

I've done lots of on-line research and have information about the owners, but I'm wanting to uncover the names of staff/employees or other people residing there who were not owners. So far, I've completely struck out.

Thanks in advance for any tips.

Thanks for the suggestion to try to get ahold of the Fitzpatrick's, Hallmark. A good idea.

Now that would be really fun! Not sure how to get ahold of them, but I'll try to figure it out.

Hi,

I would be very interested in hearing how you get on as my ancestors worked at Mountpanther House. I have tried to get records but I don't think any survive. My great grandfather and his brother worked as carpenters for the Allen family of Mountpanther.

Will do! What have you done so far to try to uncover documents? What time period would your great Grandfather have been working there?

Not sure who the owners were in the period you are looking at but the Annesley estate records are held at the Public records office in Belfast

Annesley family, Viscounts Glerawly and Earls Annesley: deeds, estate, family and legal papers, 17th-20th cents [Public Record Office of Northern Ireland, D1503, D1854]; estate maps, 1813-92 [Public Record Office of Northern Ireland, T2452]

McClean, Kelly, Murray, Higgins, McAnulty (McNulty, Conalty, Kinolty), Morgan, Rafferty, McPolin (All Co Down, Ireland) Bowman, Hooper(Yorkshire)

Thank you for this. Next time I am there I'll look that up. My great grandfather and his brother were carpenters who worked at Mountpanther. 1880s up until 1920s I think.
