Revd. G C MacKenzie Grieve
« on: Tuesday 16 July 19 15:41 BST (UK) »
I would be pleased to have any information regarding the Revd. G.C. MacKenzie Grieve.  All the information I have is that he was Minster of Culter/Coulter Parish Church, Lanarkshire in 1954.  I have tried, both Scotland's People and Family Search, without success and even a scan of the Fasti is not showing any information.  Any information will be received with an enormous thank you.  isk

What do the initials G C stand for?

How old was he in 1954?

Where did you get his name and info re: parish from?

Could it be a hyphenated surname Mackenzie-Grieve?

Hi CaroleW  A very good question!!! I have only seen the name with the initials. Sorry, I realise this is perhaps a step too far for even the amazing folks on Rootschat and I certainly don't want anyone wasting lots of time on it.  isk

PS Well done CaroleW to find him in Aberdeen in 1940

Snippet from the Fasti on Google Books gives first names as George Charles.Appears he went to Culter in1946, retiring 31 Dec 1961 and died 22 Dec 1966.

Well worth doing a search in the newspaper archive searching for McKenzie Grieve. There are a number of hits e.g in the Fraserburgh Herald and Northern Counties Advertiser 30 May 1944 which states "he started his career behind a draper's counter here".

Several newspaper mentions of his singing and speaking abilities

eg " He was trained as a singer in Italy and possesses a fine tenor voice"
