Battle of Imjin River Korea
« on: Sunday 21 July 19 09:22 BST (UK) »
Good morning all

My uncle Esmund Bevan was a conscript at the battle firing mortars. He died last year and I regret not knowing more. Is there anyway to find out where he was and in his part in the action?

Thanks

David

General reading to start with:
https://www.nam.ac.uk/explore/battle-imjin

170 Independent Mortar Battery Royal Artillery was one of the units that played a major part, Google the title and you'll find lots of info. (The battery still carries the honour title Imjin).

Big BUT.  There would have been other units of 29 Brigade which included mortar platoons so you do need to be sure what unit he was in, do you have photos with a badge or medals or known ranks .  Oherwise you need to apply for his service record, the process is here:

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,
