Passenger lists of the Chusan
« on: Wednesday 17 August 05 13:55 BST (UK) »
Is it possible to find passenger lists on the Chusan?  The Chusan was a  small P & O steamer which brought regular mail services between England and Australia. The inaugural sailing of the Chusan was May, 1852 from Southampton.

I am looking for a Charles Whitcher (baptised 22 December 1828) in Christchurch, Hampshire and who married in Collingwood, Victoria in 1854.   He may not have been on the inaugural sailing.

Family anecdotes indicate Charles Whitcher emigrated as a young man and was joined later by Ann Beere from the Isle of Wight who he married in 1854.

I have checked the assisted and unassisted migration lists and do not seem able to find Charles Whitcher or the vessel the Chusan.

Any information would be appreciated!
