Royal Navy Records - Frank Goodeve
« on: Wednesday 31 July 19 09:43 BST (UK) »
My ancestor (Frank Goodeve) comes to light in 1871 when he was 16 (after being born in S. Stoneham, Hants) in Hull being on board what looks like "Her Majesty's Coast Guard Cruzer @ Active yet when I access his records the only one I can find is June 1872 it says for 10 years and on the Audacious, 1 Jan 1873 to 26 Feb 1873 and 27 Feb 1873 to 26 May 1873.  So why hasn't his time in Hull come up in his service records.  Also I know he did not serve the 10 years and in the discharge column is what looks like "Pembroke for hosp and 3 letters "D S Q" but I may be wrong.

I am Zoe Northeast, granddaughter of Maximilian Double.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,
Zoe

Presumably he transferred from HM Coastguard to the Royal Navy on reaching his 18th birthday in 1872.

DSQ = Discharged to Sick Quarters

The "Remarks" column has "FE 1869" - not sure what that indicates suggests First Entry in 1869.

You could look at his earlier service record: https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/D7939129
