The certificate, Peter Joseph Caron & Margaret Ann Perry West London 1c 84, I now have - BUT -

Surely this is a bit late for my Peter Joseph who I believe was born in Bethnal Green in 1806 the son of Henri Caron and Marie Barbe Lefevre, especially since he appears to have had at least four children by Margaret Perry !

Marriage cert gives father as Peter Joseph, not Henry. Possibly more than one son called Peter Joseph born to Peter & Elizabeth. There is a baptism 9 July 1806 at St Matthew, Bethnal Green date of birth 20 Jan 1806 but also a baptism at St John of Jerusalem, Hackney 30 Sept 1832 date of birth noted as reputed 10 June 1824, address 10 Mutton Lane.

1841 census Pleasant Place HO107/692/7 folio 9 pg 11
Peter Carron 65 silk weaver F (foreign parts)
Elizabeth 55
Peter 17
Henry 7

Peter born 1824 then married Rebecca Spring Mantor 19 Dec 1844 at St John, Hackney, his address West Street. According to settlement documents from LMA dated 25 July 1858, he deserted Rebecca - he is noted as aged 34 an actor at the City of London Theatre, goes by the name of Harmer.. he left her 6 months ago and agreed to allow her 10 shillings a week, he now stopped it.  He says in his reply he was born in Mape Street.

London Metropolitan Archives and the online records can be accessed via Ancestry. It has scans of original documents and parish registers, so you can see both of Peter Joseph's marriage entries without buying the certificates.

More and more it seems to me that my Peter (Joseph) Caron who named himself Harmer was the father of Mary Elizabeth Caron, born January 1867 in Bethnal Green (who called herself Dolly Harmer).
Does anyone have any other theories on that?

I now know that Peter Joseph Caron, on 31 January 1859 in Holborn, married Margaret Ann Perry (I have the certificate).

BUT, I need help in finding the above Peter's birth! His father was Peter (probably Anglisied from Pierre) Joseph Caron, who I am hoping was the son of Henri Caron who came to London as a Huguenot refugee.
