Seeking information on Holland/Smith/Smyth families in Clogher area
« on: Sunday 04 August 19 22:55 BST (UK) »
Seeking information on Mary Holland, daughter of Ann Holland of Corleaghan, and her husband William Smith/Smyth.......Ann Holland was a gamekeeper for Lord Rossmore on Sliabh Beagh, and she died in Clogher in 1920; presumably she is buried in St Macartan's (Forth) Chapel, but no headstone to recognise this. In relation to Ann Holland's daughter Mary Holland, information appreciated about the man she married, William Smyth from Cloghlynn, a neighbouring townland of Corleaghan where she was born. Mary (an only child) and William married in Clogher on 3rd March 1919, and within a year her mother (Ann Holland) died (Feb 1920), she herself died (March 1920), and her new baby son also died aged 4 weeks. William Smyth's father was named John, but the marriage certificate did not specify if he was deceased at the time William married Mary. Seeking any further information on what became of William - did he remarry, perhaps he emigrated, or when/where did he die, where is he buried etc? Trying to piece together more information on the family or indeed any other family connections. Information appreciated.

If she was Presby I wouldn't assume she is buried in a C of I graveyard/cemetery!

Mary Holland was definitely Catholic, as was her mother Ann Holland. Mary was married to William Smyth in the Roman Catholic Presbytery of Clogher. However, I'm not sure of William's religion. Thanks for the replies.
