Frankby Childrens' Home
« on: Saturday 10 August 19 09:40 BST (UK) »
I help with a Palliative Service. My client and his wife  are still alive. So no names.

But the wife was sent to Frankby in 1939. To a Children's  Home.

Except for the obvious Google, can anyone help us with historical facts ?

If I post the surname Simeon,  I hope this doesn't identify anyone.

She would like some information re her past.

Hopefully.

As Frankby is in Wirral, Cheshire, have you tried that board?

Liverpool Echo 26 June 1942 advertised for girls (15-16) to train as Children's Attendant for Torpenhow, Children's Home, Montgomery Hill, Frankby, near West Kirby.

Could this be the home?

It would appear that the children's home in Frankby was for debilitated children (words from a newspaper article).

The children stay for six months or longer where after their stay they are much improved.

Source - Cheshire Observer 23 July 1938, Dr Ian Mackay's report for the year 1937.

Therefore it seems that this children's home is not for orphans but children who need nourishing or medical care.
