Chelsea Pensioner Record, Peter Mackey?
« on: Monday 12 August 19 12:10 BST (UK) »
I have been looking into the Mackey family from Armagh and have come across a ref to a record for a Peter Mackey d.o.b circa 1786 Armagh, which refers to 'Chelsea Pensioner Records's'.

There is also a ref to Peter Mackey in Merchant Navy records from 1853-1857.

Im hoping to tie Peter into the family tree of Peter Mackey d.o.b circa 1809 d.o.d 1879, husband of Mary Quinn who were all living in the Armagh city area, and who all were involved in the 'Poultry trade' right through to the 1911 census.

Discharge paper on Findmypast.
Peter Mackey served in the 18th Reg. of Foot. He he served eleven years, and spent four and a half years in India. He was discharged because of a bad leg, an injury caused by something falling on him, I can’t quite make out what.

A piece of rock fell on his leg when he was working on the Town Hill in Jersey.

Thank you for that info, by any chance does it give any address in Armagh or next of kin, or dates

Born in the parish of Armagh in or near the town of Armagh in the county of Armagh. Enlisted at Armagh. No address I'm afraid and no family information.

Thank you again Shaun, does it give an age on his discharge ? basically im hoping he may have been the father of Peter who was born Armagh circa 1809.

Thank you Shaun, those date's and ages leave the possibility of been the Father of Peter (1809) open.
